I sometimes wish I could wave a magic wand and find a way to communicate about Human Design that doesn’t sound like a catchy sales pitch.  I’ve never felt comfortable ‘selling’ myself or my work, nor have I felt drawn to quick fixes – whether promised by New Age gurus, skillful therapists or eager dieticians.  No matter how impressive a system is, if it is held with rigidity and applied to all people in all situations, it often falls short of its true potential.  Over and over again, I’ve learned that systems must be held lightly, with the flexible hands and open ears of an ‘artist’ who listens. Often systems enter our lives just when we need a map to journey from one place to the next. And then, once we've 'arrived' at our integrated destinations, they fall away, as they should. Our human lives are far too complex for one-size-fits-all approaches to personal or spiritual growth.

That said, Human Design is one of the first ‘systems’ I’ve encountered that not only acknowledges the unique authority residing in each of us, but also gives very concrete, practical tools for accessing and honoring our own authorities.  Although Human Design encompasses an enormously detailed body of knowledge and has an integrity of its own that deserves much respect, it is not ultimately designed to be a static system with protected walls.  It is designed to evolve, just as we are designed to evolve. It’s designed to deepen and expand as each of us engages in our own experiment, and learns from our own profoundly unique experience.

Already this system is taking root and branching out around the globe, blossoming as a solid field of study as well as an evolving mystical exploration. Because of my blended background, I find myself drawn to a mix of 'traditional' and 'alternative' when it comes to Human Design as well. I have received extensive education through the Jovian Archive Analyst Training program, and am presently exploring a more transpersonally focused 'approach' to (or rebirth of) Human Design, called Integral Human Design.

Because there are so many ways to hold and work with Human Design, I encourage you to find someone to work with who feels like a good fit. Learning about your design can certainly be surprising, even confronting.  But ultimately, (if not immediately), it should have a permission-giving, pressure-relieving effect on you. If you receive a reading, and over time, feel more ‘boxed in’ than ‘set free’ to be who you are, you might want to consider working with someone else.

FOUNDATION READING

If you find yourself drawn to learning enough about your design to actually begin living it, a foundation reading is highly recommended. A foundation reading can give you all that you need to know to start your experiment. It introduces you to the major elements of your design -- what we call your Type & Strategy, Authority, Profile as well as your Nature vs. Nurture themes. If you're not ready to take the official 'reading' plunge, but would like to learn more, feel free to visit the Intro to Human Design and Learning the Lingo pages on this web site, as well as the Resources page, which will point you to other resources as well.

While Human Design professionals work differently, Foundation readings can take place in person, over the phone, or through a recording that is sent to you as an mp3 file.  Whatever suits you best.

INTEGRATION SESSIONS

If I’ve learned anything from my own experiment, it’s the importance of having regular support in my own process.  Even though the unique guideposts you receive in a Foundation Reading may seem relatively simple, the act of living out what you’ve learned can be FAR from easy!  I like to think of a Foundation Reading as the planting of a seed.  The potential of this seed is infinite, but if not tended to properly, it may never sprout or blossom.

If you genuinely take in this knowledge, you begin the slow, yet profound process of breaking free from your conditioning -- one decision at a time.  Staying awake and true to yourself can require courage, compassion and patience – especially when faced with the many pressures that come along with everyday life.  Because of this, I highly recommend that people return for integration sessions (when the timing feels right).  In such sessions, they have the opportunity to explore with their Human Design ‘guide’ practical answers to their questions and concerns.

As they are supported in putting what they’ve learned about their designs into real life practice, they often reap the benefits of the supporter’s unique life and work experience.  This is why it is important to choose a Human Design professional with whom you resonate with as a person.

If you sense I might be someone you'd enjoy working with, please feel free to contact me.
